About the event
What is Junior Achievement? Junior Achievement (JA) is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating students in grades K-12 about entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.
What is JA in a Day? JA in a Day offers volunteers a unique opportunity to get involved with Junior Achievement without juggling schedule conflicts or long-term commitments. It is a high-impact way to deliver JA's lessons for the 7th graders at our Adopt-A-School partner, Tuscaloosa Magnet School. JA in a Day lessons will cover topics like personal branding, interviewing skills, resume writing, and soft skills.
What do volunteers do? Volunteers will participate in a 30-minute Zoom training session where they will obtain their classroom materials and teacher assignments. On the day of the event, volunteers will conduct the lessons in the assigned 7th grade classroom. During the event, teachers are present in the classroom at all times to manage the class, stimulate class discussion, and link the JA material to class content.
What is the time commitment? Prior to the event, volunteers will participate in a 30-minute training session. On the day of the event, volunteers will teach either one or two 45-minute sessions with a break in between.
The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, September 8.
